About the Magic Chef Mansion
Nestled in the historic Compton Heights district of St. Louis, the Magic Chef Mansion is one of the city’s grandest turn-of-the-century homes. Built in 1908, the 12,000-square-foot estate was commissioned by Charles Stockstrom, founder of the American Stove Company—better known to many by its famous brand name, Magic Chef.
Designed by renowned architect Ernst Janssen, the mansion reflects the opulence and craftsmanship of the era. From intricate woodwork and stained glass to original light fixtures and tilework, the home has been beautifully preserved and lovingly restored over the years. Many original furnishings remain, offering a rare glimpse into early 20th-century life.
Today, the Magic Chef Mansion stands as a cherished piece of St. Louis history—a private residence that opens its doors for special occasions, including weddings and celebrations like ours.
We can’t wait to share this magical space with you!
